Welcome to the The Connected Republic wiki!

Introduction

This wiki is part of theconnectedrepublic.org[1], a community space for public sector innovators created by Cisco's Internet Business Solutions Group. The wiki is designed to allow members of the community to produce documents collaboratively. Please feel free to contribute to any of the active projects listed below. Or if you wish to start a new project, please go ahead and do so.

Unfortunately we have had some spam problems here too, so you can only edit a page if you log in. Unfortunately that means you will need first to create an account (with yet another username and password) for this part of the site. But feel free to make life easier for yourself by choosing the same username and password you use on the Forums. And again creating an account is really easy.

If you have any other ideas about how we can use this wiki, please post your ideas on the feedback section[2] in the Forums.

This facility was launched in May 2008 so there are currently no past projects.

Getting Started

For people who have contributed to Wikipedia using this facility should be pretty easy. But for most people :-) it should still not be too difficult. Basically, use the navigation panel on the left to take you to the project that you want to contribute to and then when you get to that page click the Edit tab that you should see (if you are logged in) at top middle of the page. You can then add material, delete, cut and paste from other documents etc. Do remember to save before you navigate away from a page you are editing as the tool will not remind you that you are about to lose all your great work.

If you want to link (internally to this wiki or externally to the wider web (or other pages on the connectedrepublic.org), there are editing icons in the toolbar at the top right that help you do this - the third button from the left is for internal links, the fourth button for external links.

If you want to start a new page, this is what you need to do. Think of a name for the new page, create an internal link to it on the existing page, save the existing page. Then click the new internal link and edit the new page you have just created. Here is an example.

Otherwise it is just a matter of having a bit of a go and if you run into minor formatting issues, either don't worry about it or have a look at how someone else did it elsewhere and then try to copy what they have done (e.g. copy and paste and then modify).

Consult the User's Guide for information on using the wiki software.
