I am CEO of polyWonk, a start-up developing software and services for collaboration and innovation in public policy. We're working to help policy-makers more effectively engage with one another and their stakeholders in a meaningful and deliberative way. Prior to polyWonk, I worked as a policy advisor to various national and international agencies and research centres. The majority of my early career was as a strategy consultant with Deloitte, where I caught the innovation bug in San Francisco. During the first dot-com boom, I co-founded OnRamp, a business accelerator serving start-ups and spin-outs of Fortune 500 firms. I hold an MPA in innovation policy from the Kennedy School of Government, an MS in Technology Policy, and BS in Computer Science and Economics. Paul - Great post. We at polyWonk have been consumed with just this topic, as well. I particularly like the way in which you portray a couple of different scenarios. We've been trying to think about a tool that could enable deliberative engagement throughout the policy process, but perhaps the reality is that different tools (and different approaches / different places for engagement / etc.) are required for the different stages of the policy process. Paul, I think the re-worked site looks great. Simplicity has its advantages. I will be curious to see how you decide to roll the wiki content back in. I'm working on a software platform (specifically, collaboration in policy development) which is constantly trying to strike a similar balance of simplicity and functionality. I don't believe anyone has yet cracked the nut of a simple, intuitive platform for deliberative co-creation.
