Brunch is by far my favorite meal of the day, and Blackhawk’s restaurants did not disappoint me! Whenever I visit a new town, my first impulse is to look for top-notch brunch places, and I am rarely disappointed. Blackhawk was a unique trip in that I discovered not only good commercial establishments, but also a fantastic local spot. I always prefer local restaurants, as they give you the true taste of the town and also tend to be the most delicious! Here are a few of my recommendations are a weekend trip:
1. Ranked top of trip advisor’s list is the Centennial Buffet. Especially noted for its incredible brunch, Centennial Buffet also provides visitors with numerous types of cuisines. You thought you were taking a trip to Blackhawk, but when you arrive at Centennial Buffet you’ll be pleased to find you took a trip around the world. And for those traveler with a penchant for sweets, Centennial Buffet’s dessert bar is an absolute must. I even dipped in a little during breakfast. You can’t fault me for going crazy when I’m on vacation!
2. Fireside Kitchen also sports a delicious breakfast and brunch menu. Best of all, with generous portions and top of the line service, Fireside keeps restaurant-goers happy. Plus, the restaurant is beautifully decorated and tops a great meal off with a great view. Their skillets are especially good, and you can never go wrong with a healthy dose of pancakes. I also splurged during my breakfast and added a specialty shake to my meal and it was to die for. I mean, who doesn’t love pancakes and milkshakes?
3. For those looking for the quieter, local side of Blackhawk, look no further than Mountain Mocha Cafe. This adorably quaint coffee and light breakfast place speaks to the mountain-town feel of Blackhawk away from big attractions. With free wifi and delicious coffee, this is the perfect place to get a feel for the real Blackhawk, the quiet village of quaint mining town delight. The coffees are homemade and the owners are friendly and welcoming. This coffee shop by far my favorite place to go when I visited Blackhawk. I wanted to feel like I belonged in the town, and the minute you walk in the door you feel as if you are amongst friends. It’s homey feel and local artwork is the perfect way to start your day in Blackhawk. This restaurant was one of my favorite additions to my trip, and it is worth returning to. The warm wooden furniture makes you feel right at home, and who doesn’t love the smell of delicious homemade coffee brewing fresh in the background?
Needless to say, I am a big fan of brunch in Blackhawk. The Blackhawk restaurants are just fantastic! While wandering around this awesome mountain town, take the time for some home-grown breakfast in stop in for a divine treat!
